Before F.A.S, Jenny worked as an optician for many years. She grew up sailing on her parent’s yacht nearly every weekend, and developed a love of all things sailing. She was first introduced to kayaking when she met terry, whilst still at secondary school. Since then she has learnt nearly everything there is to know about kayaks, canoes and sit-on-tops. Her favorite water sport is sailing, but she also enjoys paddling and windsurfing.  She likes red wine, off-road running, live music and travelling. She can’t stand wasting time, shopping and red tape.

daveDave joined us in January 2009 when he came in to buy a kayak. He hasn’t left yet. He’s one of these people who does the things that most people talk about in the pub but forget the next morning. He was the first person to skate the length of Britain and broke the Guinness World Record for distance skating by pushing his board from Perth to Brisbane across Australia (www.boardfree.co.uk). He now runs a project called The Great Big Paddle, which involves 9000 miles of paddling between 2009 and 2011 (www.thegreatbigpaddle.com). He doesn’t like boys with long hair or people who don’t think before asking the question, why?

Lucie started kayaking when around the age of 10, but only did a little bit of playboating. Brother Scott became hooked, but Lucie wasn’t all that bothered – she recalls her coach Kevin asking Scott ’so when is your sister going to start?’ and Lucie’s reply was “you’ll be lucky to get me in one of them boats!”

Now she’s in one every evening at training.

In 2006 she joined Bath Canoe Club and began to compete in River Racing, before being selected as a travelling reserve for the Great British Junior team to go to the Junior European Championships in Bosnia Herzegovina. A year away from study first, though, as she concentrates on the October 2009 World Cup races in Tasmania.
